Signalis is a game that comes to life by the rose engine. It is a basic classically inspired, pure, honest horror survival gaming experience without repetitive filler content, that delivers a unique sci fi aesthetic and an emotional-driven story telling experience packaged by Japanese, German, sexy yet appropriate art style.

Gamers across all platforms such as Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S consoles, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as well as those on the Nintendo Switch and PC can access it digitally available now and soon in February of 2023 in physical form. It's also available through Xbox Game Pass.

Gameplay
Signalis has simple gameplay wise it is a reminiscence of classic survival games like Silent Hill and the resident Evil. It's a top down view, pixel survival shooter, art and small melee skills and the limited amount of items to navigate through the world.

It's a science fiction only single-player narrative which brings tension home with resident evil levels of melee weapons with weak ranges, forcing the combat fight to be conducted at arms length like pistols and shotguns.

The game world is all interconnected rooms that you explore for keys or objects which aid in solving puzzles by combining items in safe rooms allowing you to use the tools that you need in order to survive.

There will be enemies to fight who are pushed when you aren't armed with the shotguns, or pistols you encounter all over the world of games as you attempt to make sense of the reason and purpose behind doing what you are doing in this enigmatic world.

The game begins straightforward and easy, however, you will find out that the difficulty rises dramatically in the course of the game, epically, towards the end with enemies that come back to life, pop out of the floors and vents, as well as simple, easy, yet thrilling boss fights in a claustrophobic environment.

I'd suggest that it is not the games fault per say however, if you advance in the game significantly in the course of 2 or 3 hours in and then you take a break for a couple of days, coming back can be hard because the game doesn't necessarily spoonfeed you what you were expected to do next. And due to the map being somewhat difficult to grasp new players might be thrown off initially However, use guides and exercise your brain muscles. Trust me, the pain is worth it.

The variety of the enemy is a bit limited for my taste, but it was made by two individuals, and I am able to accept it because what's there is for the most part basic, classic, and effective use of the design of a survival horror game.

Story
The story is set in a dystopian world, and is presented in a way that prompts you to think and ponder the ending and significance of the story, not simply playing the game and then be told what the story means. The game is designed to make you think about the story.

Personally, I found the narrative mechanics of female workers as well as the representation of female and male workers through the machines of a communist style work environment interesting.

I won't go much in the details to keep from spoilers, so let me just say that it is not an easy tale to comprehend, and you are left to interpret according to my view the meaning of the story as it isn't based on logic and reality, per say.

Graphics/Performance
In terms of graphics and performance, Signalis the game I won't be doing an in-depth analysis since it runs well and looks great for its unique art style. It runs efficient and beautifully on every device you play it on pretty much and I really hope that it will come to mobile devices such as iPhone and Android soon.

I highly recommend playing this on an OLED TV or Monitor as it's gorgeous.

Sound
In the realm of sound, just take a listen:

For being done mostly by two individuals, I feel the sound design is simple and yet extremely effective in delivering claustrophobic adrenaline rush moments but with a calmness to invigorate the whole experience into an adrenaline-pumping rollercoaster of horror emotions.

Achievements/Fan Service
On the achievements side, the game is actually easy to get all the achievements and according to trueachievements.com, plateshears0.bravejournal.net you can get them all with an 8 to 10 hours. It is possible to finish the game in less time if would like to speed it up.

On the side of fan service to things , the anime Japanese character models have adorable, gorgeous, big eyes. The feminine figure is represented by the art style and it I find it fitting and satisfying. So I give the video a thumbs-up from a man of the culture. If you feel it's not enough, I'm going to have to suggest that you touch some grass right now. Then, stop the video and go.

Conclusion Review Silent Hill Meets Ghost In The Shell Signalis survival horror game review
In conclusion, I would affirm that this is among these survival horror films that is going to be remembered in history as a simple yet extremely high-quality Indie developer. A success story game in which I believe any fan of survival horror. Particularly, classic style residents, evil, as well as Silent Hill titles needs to give it a chance and try it out.

I don't play all of my single-player games fully thru so I won't working towards more endings, however I can say I'm glad and proud of having had the opportunity to experience this extraordinary journey by the publisher of the rose engine.
